Responsibilities

Tasks

• Assign projects related to work safety, environmental safety, and accident prevention to subordinates and staff.
• Investigate outbreaks of diseases and food poisoning
• Provide information/training to employers, employees, and the general public
• Conduct surveys and monitoring programs of the natural environment
• Establish and implement policies and procedures
• Inspect spills of hazardous chemicals or products
• Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards
• Investigate workplace accidents or illnesses
• Initiate enforcement procedures to fine or close an establishment
• Manage training and development strategies
• Oversee the analysis of employee data and information
• Oversee the development of communication strategies
• Develop and implement health and safety plans
• Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
• Advise senior management
• Respond to employee questions and complaints
• Evaluate work environments, programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury
