GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER

 

At FCS Can Ltd, we thrive to be the trusted resource and supplier for Geotechnical Systems and Concrete Forming and Shoring Systems.

Our Geotechnical division stands on the shoulder of Horst Aschenbroich. With Con-Tech Systems, he introduced the IBO hollow bar systems into the market. We are offering the same system. We also supply strand anchor materials, namely steel strand, plastic sheathing and accessories, as well as hydraulic jacks.

The Concrete Forming and Shoring division offers concrete formwork, shoring and plywood. A new addition is sensor technology for monitoring concrete curing and strength.

Our approach centers around clients and their projects. Understanding the objectives, challenges and requirements, enables us to offer the most effective solutions to ensure the project’s success.

Job brief

 

We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer with a deep knowledge and experience in the foundation, piling and shoring business. As our new operations manager the perfect candidate is familiar with hollow bar and micro piles, strand and bar anchors as well as piling and drilling equipment. He will have to maintain existing client contacts, develop new clients and provide advice on their requirements when necessary. As part of a small team he is responsible for the preparation of quotations from conception through to completion including the management of orders to suppliers and supervision of the assembly of products at our workshop.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, create quotations for construction projects in a timely manner
  • Analyze site reports and data such as specifications, tests, drawings and other
  • Develop the most suitable solution in terms of technical and feasibility
  • Assess potential risks, materials and costs
  • Provide advice to clients/customers at their offices and at construction sites
  • Resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies
  • Oversee and mentor staff and liaise with a variety of stakeholders
  • Handle over the resulting structures and services for use
  • Manage budget and purchase equipment/materials
  • Arrange transportation of imported equipment/goods to the client/customer.
  • Clear customs on the port of entry
  • Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required

Requirements and skills

  • BS/MA in Civil Engineering
  • 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Site experience, project management and supervision skills
  • Profound proficiency in material applications, characteristics and regulatory approvals etc.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent English written and verbal skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Valid class 5 drivers license (position involves traveling to various locations)
  • French or second foreign language skills preferred

 

Salary

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - 76,000 per year.

 

Location specifics

 

Our office and work shop is located in Delta, just 40 minutes south of downtown Vancouver.
