  Job Description

Specific Skills:

·         Acknowledge and welcome customers upon arrival

·         Determine or confirm the pricing of goods, and calculate the total amount due using an electronic cash register, or other point-of-sale equipment

·         Measure the weight of produce and bulk food items

·         Accept and process payments made by cash, cheque, credit card, or electronic debit methods

·         Assist in wrapping and placing the merchandise bought in bags

·         Offer relevant information and assistance to customers as required

·         Determine the total amount of payments collected during the shift and ensure consistency with total sales figures

·         Ensure compliance with age-restriction regulations by verifying customer identification before processing sales of lottery or tobacco items

·         Assist in replenishing inventory and ensure the check-out counter area is kept clean and orderly.
