Job description:
As the Electrician, you are accountable for the installation, preventative/reactive maintenance repair, troubleshooting of all electrical systems specific to the Edmonton International Airport. This position will be required to work a rotating shift of days and nights, to support the Facilities Maintenance Department by responding to call center requests, completing assigned work orders, ensuring the safe and effective operation of all airport systems/equipment/facilities, and providing input into maintenance programs and processes in support of the successful operation of Edmonton Airports’ facilities.

- Performs regular and corrective maintenance for Critical Systems equipment, structures, and all preventive maintenance activities are completed according to schedule.
- Liaises with plumbers, HVAC technicians, contractors, other trade disciplines, and internal/external stakeholders to provide technical expertise on airport systems/equipment/facilities.
- Executes preventative work orders assigned to maintain and repair electrical equipment in the terminal, office tower, and Central Utility Plant.
- Ensures appropriate controls, safety measures, maintenance, and reporting while servicing systems in accordance with Airport and Environmental Regulations.
- Troubleshoots and diagnose equipment failures efficiently and accurately to repair as necessary.
- Successful applicant must have a Red Seal Electrician Journeyman certification, preference will be given to the candidate that has airport, industrial or facilities maintenance experience.
- Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance, repair, inspections and installations of mechanical and electrical equipment are required.
- Experience with conveyors, plc, vfd, control systems, overhead door systems, pumps and working with medium voltage switchgear would be an asset.
- WHMIS, TDG, Forklift, aerial platform, fall protection, Arc Flash, First Aid, AVOP certifications.
- Must have strong trouble shooting, analysis, and problem-solving skills enabling the resolve of system failures and operational problems.
- Proven safety leadership to ensure departmental compliance with SOG’s, safe work practices and policies is required.
- Successful candidate needs excellent customer service and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Ability to secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance, Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit, and criminal record check is required.
