Job Summary:
We are seeking reliable and hardworking Grain Farm Workers to join our agricultural team for the 2024 farming season. As a Grain Farm Worker, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks involved in planting, cultivating, harvesting, and maintaining grain crops. This position offers hands-on experience in modern grain farming and is ideal for individuals looking to work in an agricultural setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Work: Assist in planting, irrigating, and maintaining grain crops such as wheat, barley, canola, and corn.
- Harvesting: Operate and maintain basic farm machinery such as tractors, combines, seeders, and sprayers during the harvest season.
- Crop Monitoring: Check fields for pest infestations, weed growth, and crop health, and report findings to the farm supervisor.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on farming equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and simple repairs.
- Loading and Transporting: Load grain into transport trucks and ensure safe and efficient transport to storage facilities.
- Farm Upkeep: Assist with general farm maintenance, including cleaning barns, repairing fences, and maintaining irrigation systems.
Job Requirements:
- Education: No formal education is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience working on a farm or handling farm machinery is an asset but not mandatory. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy objects, bending, standing for long periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of farm machinery operations and maintenance is a plus. Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Language: Basic proficiency in English (or French, in certain regions) for effective communication and safety purposes.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position that may require working early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended hours during peak planting and harvest seasons. Flexibility with working hours is essential.
