Job description:

Job Duties:

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Prepare tenders and quotations
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
• Instruct apprentices
• Estimate costs and materials
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishment

Job Details:

• Employment Type: Full-time, non-seasonal
• Salary starting at $23.00 per hour.
• Benefit from stable, full-time employment with 35-40 hours workweeks.
• Overtime will be paid at 1.5 times the regular rate for work after 8 hours/day and 40 hours/week.
• Vacation pay will be paid at 4% of basic wage.
• Qualified for a three-week vacation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year construction experience  
• Complete secondary school.
• Knowledge of various tools and equipment
• Completes tasks with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
• Works independently as well as in a team environment
